The Physics of Machining & The Evolution of Carbide Cutting Tools

Machining is a versatile manufacturing operation that transforms raw materials such as metals, polymers and ceramics into finished goods.

Over the years, there has been a major transformation of machine tools from manual machines to computer numerical controlled machines. The result has been machines that can perform multiple operations, cut faster and take heavier cuts. Tungsten carbide cutting tools have evolved to enable the new machine tools to work to their full potential.

Sandvik is a Swedish Company that is a major manufacture cutting tools in the world. At Sandvik Canada's sales office in Mississauga you will have an opportunity to hear about what happens when a cutting tool cuts a material on a machine tool. How cutting tools have evolved over the years to gain a longer life, to cut faster and to cut deeper. You will have an opportunity to see samples of tungsten carbide cutting-tools and see a demonstration of metal being machined. - Sandvik Coromant Canada Productivity Centre
