Cosideram atiunea noastra un succes, atat cat priveste participarea membrilor nostri (si a ne-membrilor prezenti la intrunire), cat si ca dezbateri in sine pe temele legate de intocmirea acestui dosar, modul de "colectare si gestionare" a pieselor ce compun dosarul, continutul si forma lor de prezentare, in conformitate cu cerintele PEO, care sa indreptateasca pe fiecare doritor sa ajunga cat mai convenabil posibil la rezultatul final - obtinerea licentei. Discutiile si comentariile aferente au fost cat se poate de "libere, deschise si la obiect" intrucat participantii la seminar si-au exprimat dorinta de a genera un "grup suport" care sa-i motiveze si sa-i mobilizeze pentru reusita fiecaruia in stradaniile lui de a ajunge la PEO licence. Am apreciat deosebit participarea celor prezenti la seminar cu intrebari, comentarii, propuneri, impartasiri din experientele proprii (la cei cu dosarul mai avansat, ori cu licenta deja obtinuta), care consideram ca au avut darul sa "coaguleze" generarea acestui "grup suport" pentru viitoare discutii cu intrebari si raspunsuri intre toti cei ce se vor "conecta" la el. Executivul AREC-SOC multumeste pe aceasta cale tuturor colegilor nostri, prezenti la intrunirea noastra, pentru ajutorul oferit la constituirea electronica a acestui grup: arec-soc@yahoo.ca , care de acum poate fi accesat ( http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/arec-soc ) si intrebuintat de toti cei ce-si propun sa ajunga licentiati PEO in Canada. Prin aceasta modalitate dorim sa fim "cat mai aproape si de folos" celor ce au ca obiectiv titulatura inginereasca P. Eng. aici in Canada, deci v-am ruga sa ne transmiteti, fie prin intermediul conectarii la acest grup, fie prin orice alte mijloace, parerea si consideratia voastra legata de initiativa noastra si daca o gasiti de ajutor pentru voi.
Cu sinceritate va destainuim ca Executivul AREC-SOC isi propune si pe viitor sa "antreneze" cat mai multi alti entuziasti din comunitatea noastra in initiative asemanatoare, din care atat filiala AREC-SOC, dar in mod deosebit cat mai multi din membrii comunitatii noastre sa beneficieze de colaborarea si networking-ul dintre noi, astfel ca benficiul final sa fie al tuturora.
Cu foarte mare placere mai consemnam ca, tot cu ocazia acesui seminar, alti voluntari din rindurile comunitatii noastre au acceptat benevol sa se alature executivului nostru, intrucat "randurile lui se cam rarisera". Asadar ne bucuram sa va facem cunoscut ca doamnele Carmen Boboc P. Eng. si Maria Staniloiu, ne vor fi de acum inainte de mare ajutor in stradaniile noastre de continua munca benevola in folosul comunitatii noastre de aici, ca membere ale executivului nostru AREC-SOC. Multumim mult acestor doua doamne pentru gestul lor si totodata dorim pe aceasta cale sa incurajam si pe "alti romani cu suflet mare" sa se alature noua, ortice ajutor este de apreciat, iar beneficiul nu poate fi decat al nostru, al intregii comunitati.

Biography: Mircea Mihaescu has over 20 years of experience in software engineering and development and implementation of large scale software projects. Mircea holds "Engineer" and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics Engineering from the "Politehnica" University of Timisoara, Romania. Mircea is the Director of the Sberbank Technology Research Center in Moscow, leading banking-related emerging technology research and development projects, both internal and in collaboration with research institutes and Sberbank technology partners.
Before joining Sberbank, he was Director, CIO Lab Enterprise Agility at IBM, where he lead internal innovation projects in social computing, cyber security and business process management.
In his previous position, Mircea was the Director of Provisioning and Configuration Technologies for IBM Tivoli, responsible for the development of Tivoli Provisioning Manager, Tivoli Configuration Manager and Tivoli Security Compliance Manager products, and for driving automatic configuration products as a base technology across IBM. Prior to joining IBM Tivoli through the acquisition of Think Dynamics, Mircea was the Vice President of Engineering at Think Dynamics, where he was in charge of managing the development of a pioneering cloud computing infrastructure management solution. Before joining Think Dynamics, Mircea was the Vice President and CTO for beMANY, an Internet commerce company designed to assist individual consumers and businesses with the purchase and management of communication and utility services, with the benefits of group buying power and consolidated customer billing. Before joining beMANY, Mircea served as Technology Head for Bank of Montreal Capital Markets, leading the development of trading, risk management and back office processing applications for derivatives financial products.
In one of his messages on his blog, Mircea says: "One possible way is to think of connections as career, task, and social relationships. A career relationship is with someone that you will continue to keep in touch as you move from job to job -- a mentor, a technical guru, etc. A task relationship is with someone you work together on a project -- you may bump into each other ten years later and chat, but the relationship is essentially short-lived. Using PMCDF to Become a Better Project Manager
(knowing where you are, and how to get where you want to be)

Outline:
Project Management Institute (PMI) uses three dimensions to define what is considered a "competent project manager": knowledge, performance and personal competencies. While a project manager's knowledge can be demonstrated by obtaining the PMP or equivalent certification, assessing the performance and personal competencies is much more difficult.
PMI addresses this gap with the Project Manager Competency Development Framework (PMCDF), now at the Second Edition. It includes not only a clear definition of competencies required of project managers, but also examples of evidence to demonstrate them as well as a process to assess and improve individual competency level.
This presentation will demonstrate how PMCDF can be used by any Project Manager to improve their own capabilities, and apply them within an organizational context to increase the likelihood for project success. The goal is to assist the participants in:
 Understanding required competencies and how to assess them.
 Learning how to improve their competencies in project management.
 Adjusting the framework to organization particularities.

Biography:

George Jucan is well known in the project management community as a successful IT project management consultant, captivating speaker at public events, motivating trainer and author of high-impact project management articles.

George has over 20 years of technical and management experience in complex environments, both in public and private sector. He provides consulting services in methodology definition and capability assessment, business reengineering and organizational restructuring, projects audit and recovery, as well as hands-on management of projects. Many of his projects won provincial and national awards and/or were profiled in specialty magazines.

A renowned expert in standards and methodologies, George is leading the Canadian Advisory Committee for ISO standardization activities as the Chair of the CAC/ISO/TC258 - "Project, programme and portfolio management" that will continue the activity of the CAC/ISO/PC236 - "Project management" (the upcoming ISO 21500 project management standard) where he currently acts as Vice-Chair.

Within PMI, George Jucan is currently a member of the Core Team for the upcoming PMBOK® Guide 5th Edition. His previous leadership activities in PMI Standards Committees include PMBOK® Guide 4th Edition, PMCDF - 2nd Edition, and Government Extension to the PMBOK® Guide - 3rd Edition. He is also the Chair of PMI Information Systems SIG, as well as a Board member of PMI Southern Ontario Chapter.

BBQ LA IARBA VERDE!

Asociatia Inginerilor Romani din Canada - Filiala Ontario Sud, AREC-SOC, invita cu placere toti doritorii de iesiri la "iarba verde" (ingineri si ne-ingineri cu familiile lor) sa ne insoteasca la un BBQ organizat de filiala noastra, sambata 06 august, 2011, in parcul Riverside Park din Cambridge (chiar linga HW 401), in zona de picnic numita "Kin Area", de la ora 10:00 AM.

Actiunea noastra isi propune sa inlesneasca socializarea si cunoasterea reciproca atat in rindul membrilor nostri (cu familiile lor), cat si intre noi, membrii AREC-SOC si restul comunitatii romanesti, deschisa contactelor de prietenie intre noi romanii din aceasta zona. Ca o prima actiune de acest fel, consideram sa participam in forma de "pot luck", unde oricine este binevenit, iar completarea sa o facem dupa traditia noastra romaneasca "cu un mititel, dar fara bere" conform legislatiei canadiene. Orice alta forma de participare individuala si personala, dupa preferintele si obiceiurile iesirilor la iarba verde este la latitudinea fiecaruia, in limitele respectarii normelor canadiene pentru astfel de actiuni.

Nu ne propunem sa facem nici un fel de colecta financiara cu aceasta actiune, dar orice fel de contributie/donatie din patrea oricui, in scopul sustinerii filialei noastre (ca organizatie non-profit si pe baza de voluntariat) o vom accepta si aprecia ca atare.

Dorim sa permanentizam actiunea noastra pentru anii viitori, deci orice sugestii, contributii sau pareri personale, care sa imbunatateasca organizarea, participarea si desfasurarea actiunii noastre, vor fi mai mult decat binevenite din partea oricui.

AREC-SOC doreste sa vina in sprijinul tuturor celor interesati in realizarea acestui deziderat, invitindu-va sa participati la acest seminar. Prof. Stelian George-Cosh, membru in consiliul academic al PEO si vicepresedinte al AREC-SOC, va prezenta pas cu pas etapele de intocmire a dosarului de admitere pentru Professional Engineers of Ontario. Se vor discuta detalii privind interviul PEO, cum sa evitati examenele tehnice si cum sa va pregatiti in vederea sustinerii examenului de "Law and Ethics".

Seminarul va fi organizat in sala 2A502 la Conestoga College in Kitchener, #299 Doon Valley Drive, Ontario, N2G 4M4, simbata, 30 octombrie 2010, ora 10.00 am. Participantii vor primi editia recenta a "Admission guide to PEO".

Skilled and qualified project managers are not only vital for delivering your organization's projects on time, on budget, and on scope-but they're also in high demand. A common difficulty for managers is balancing their day-to-day workload while trying to complete high priority 'special' projects. If managers are unable to balance the impact of these special projects, both the project and other productivity fall short of expectations. The keys to completing projects are clarification of the goals, planning to meet those goals, and managing the project according. The project management process requires a team to be formed who can successfully complete a project. At the head of the team is the project manager, and they must be able to delegate the tasks of the project to each member. The ability to do this properly will play a role in the success of the overall project.

This presentation delivers understanding of the fundamentals of Project Management, an increasingly valuable skill set for business today. It provides the core methodology you will need to understand project management and how to participate on project teams effectively. 

Rishi served as a Vice-President-Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) at Global Technologies and Manufacturing and as a Director of Operations responsible for production, engineering, procurement, quality and logistics of AZZ-Blenkhorn and Sawle Ltd. Rishi obtained his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1976 from University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta. Since 1976, he has held many senior positions in utility, auto industry, research & development, service and consulting sectors in program and portfolio management of various capital projects. He has authored and co-authored technical and business papers on variety of topics and has presented them at numerous national and international conferences and symposiums.

Presenter: Dumitru Olariu has worked for more than 25 years with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) - An Agency of Industry Canada first as a Patent Examiner in Electrical Engineering, then as a Business Development Officer for Ontario. In his present capacity, Mr. Olariu helps people and organizations take advantage of CIPO's products and services, and the intellectual property (IP) system in general. His presentation will cover a quick overview of the main types of intellectual property in Canada, i.e. patents, trade-marks, industrial designs, copyrights, and integrated circuit topographies. The presentation will also cover the latest CIPO's products and initiatives, such as the publications "Stand out from your competitors - Make intellectual property your best business ally" and "What's in name? - Using trade-marks as business tools", and the initiatives called the "Bank of Speakers" and IP Case Studies.

-Prezentarea "Innovation and Transformation - a) how to manage the innovation process to transform a company; b) how the innovation process is applicable to an engineer's career management." făcută de Dl. Mircea Mihaescu, P.Eng, Ph.D, Director la IBM, Departamentul Security & Compliance Innovations.

-"Noutăți la Professional Engineers Ontario" prezentate de Dl. Corneliu Chisu, M.Eng, P.Eng, Vice Președinte al PEO.

-Înființarea oficială a filialei AREC - Southern Ontario Chapter și alegerea comitetului ei de conducere.

Numărul românilor din sudul Provinciei Ontario a crescut continuu ajungând în 2006 la cca 15,000 din care foarte mulți sunt ingineri educați în România. Anul trecut un seminar AREC organizat în Kitchener de un grup de "localnici" foarte entuziaști și plini de inițiative - Prof. Stelian George-Cosh, Dl.Ilie Pașca și Dl. Radu Secășan - Directorul ziarului Agenda Românească, a umplut la refuz o sală cu ingineri interesați să-și obțină licența de Professional Engineer. Din ei, 15 participanți au devenit pe loc membrii AREC demonstrând interesul inginerilor români să aparțină asociației.

AREC este o organizatie non-profit care are urmatoarele obiective:

1. Cresterea reputatiei si pozitiei sociale a inginerilor de origine Romana in Canada.

2. Asigurarea platformei necesare dezvoltarii contactelor profesionale si sociale intre membrii sai. Membrii AREC cu experienta Canadiana ofera sprijin inginerilor Romani noi veniti.

3. Dezvoltarea intelegerii diferentelor culturale si a aptitudinilor personale si profesionale.

4. Asistarea inginerilor de origine Romana in procesul de inscriere si obtinere a licentei PEO.

5. Oferirea de ajutor in angajarea pe pozitii din domeniul ingineriei, prin informarea membrilor despre pozitii ingineresti existente pe piata muncii.

6. Mentinerea de legaturi socio-profesionale cu diferite organizatii profesionale si alte asociatii cu domeniu de activitate similar din Canada.

7. Dezvoltarea legaturilor socio-profesionale cu organizatii similare din Romania.

8. Promovarea si reprezentarea inginerilor educati in Romania in mass-media locala Romano-Canadiana.

9. Facilitarea de rate preferentiale de grup la asigurari auto si casa prin TD Insurance Meloche Monex.

Activitatile AREC se desfasoara practic prin cele 4 - 5 seminarii / intalniri anuale, dar si prin contactul constant intre Executivul AREC si membrii sai, precum si prin contactele directe intre membrii asociatiei. Fiecare an de activitate culmineaza cu un Dinner Gala, la care sunt invitate si diferite personalitati din comunitatea Romaneasca si Canadiana.

In speranta ca ne vom intalni cu un numar cat mai mare de ingineri la constituirea sucursalei AREC Triunghiul de Aur, va uram o vara placuta.

Asociatia Inginerilor Romani din Canada (AREC) impreuna cu un grup entuziast de sustinatori locali din Kitchener, organizeaza in data de 13 Iunie, Duminica, la ora 12, o intalnire pentru instituirea sucursalei Kitchener, care va fi prima sucursala infiintata de AREC pana acuma. 

Sant invitati sa participe toti inginerii educati in Romania, care acum locuiesc in Triunghiul de Aur (Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, London, Chattam, Hamilton, Burlington).

Agenda: 

1. Intilnire cu un VIP Roman - D-l. Ing. Dr. Mircea Mihaescu,  Director la IBM, Departamentul Security & Compliance Innovations. Mircea va prezenta: "Innovation and Transformation - a) how to manage the innovation process to transform a company; b) how the innovation process is applicable to an engineer's career management." 2. D-l Cornel Chisu, recent reales Vice Presedinte al Professional Engineers for Ontario (PEO), ne va onora cu prezenta Dansului, prezentand noutati legate de PEO.
3. Infiintarea filialei "AREC Triunghiul de Aur" si Alegerea Executivului filialei (va rugam sa cititi aici conditiile de infiintare si modalitatile de lucru ale filialelor AREC).

In 2009 AREC (Association of Romanian Engineers in Canada) a organzat un seminar instructiv despre procesul / modalitatile de a deveni Professional Engineer in Ontario, pentru ingineri Romani din Triunghiul de Aur. Intalnirea s-a facut in Kitchener, si a fost rezultatul eforturilor comune ale AREC-ului cu un grup de "localnici" foarte entuziasti si plini de initiativa, Profesor Stelian George Cosh, P. Eng, Ing. Ilie Pasca, P. Eng si Dl. Radu Secasan - Director al ziarului Agenda Romaneasca. 

Intalnirea a fost de mare succes, avand o participare de peste 50 ingineri, 15 dintre ei devenind membri AREC pe loc. Din 2009 pana acum numarul membrilor AREC locuind in regiunea Triunghiului de Aur, a ajuns la peste 25 membri. Membrii AREC din Triunghiul de Aur participa activ la actiunile AREC, care de obicei se desfasoara in Toronto. Cum numarul romanilor care locuiesc in Triunghiul de Aur a crescut continuu (in 2006 Statistics Canada indica numarul de romani in Triunghiul de Aur: Burlington - 1.020, Chatham-Kent - 540, Guelph - 585, Hamilton - 4.605, Kitchener - 5.635, London - 2.140) la fel a crescut si numarul inginerilor (Este de remarcant faptul ca 58% din emigrantii Romani in Canada au varsta intre 25 si 44 de ani, si au absolvit cel putin o facultate, iar 31% au absolvit cursuri post-universitare.) Ca atare infiintarea unei sucursale AREC in Triunghiul de Aur este foarte naturala, si aceasta explica si solicitarile din ce in ce mai multe de extindere a activitatii AREC in Triunghiul de Aur. Asociatia noastra, infiintata in 2003, a avut o dezvoltare deosebita in ultimii 2 ani, numarul membrilor crescand aproape de 10 ori! Acest "boom" al membrilor, precum si interesul deosebit aratat fata de activitatile noastre de catre inginerii educati in Romania, care acum locuiesc in toata Canada, ne dau sperante ca dupa sucursala Triunghiul de Aur vor urma si alte sucursale. Exista deja interes in regiunea Montreal, Vancouver si Calgary. Speram ca activitatile AREC sa fie in continuare atractive si de ajutor inginerilor din Canada.

DATE DESPRE MIRCEA MIHAESCU

Mircea are peste 20 de ani de experienta in software engineering, in dezvoltarea si implementarea proiectelor de software de scara larga. Mircea este Directorul departamentului WebAhead Development and Security Innovations in IBM's CIO Head Office in New York, USA. Departamentul lui Mircea este responsabil cu previziunea modului in care software-ul & hardware-ul vor fi folosite in viitor, ce aplicatii vor fi necesare, cum vor inter-reactiona ele, etc. - o activitate foarte "futuristica" si interesanta.

Inainte de a ajunge Director la WebAhead Development and Security Innovations, Mircea a fost Director al departamentului Software Development la IBM Tivoli, dezvoltand produse care se ocupau cu automatizarea centrelor de date. Mircea a ocupat mai multe pozitii de conducere in IT, consulting si software development, avand o cariera de succes in companii de dezvoltare de software, incepand cu start-ups si continuand cu dezvoltarea firmelor pana la maturizarea lor, realizand o crestere exceptionala a firmelor in care a lucrat.

In unul din mesajele postate pe blog-ul lui, Mircea spune:

Melissa Magder, M.A., Cross-Cultural Training Consultant la Cultures In Motion va vorbi despre Impactul Diferentelor Culturale asupra Inginerilor. Prezentatoarea va examina obstacolele intalnite de inginerii proveniti din diferite tari atunci cand isi cauta de lucru in Canada. Melissa va da sfaturi despre cum sa "navighezi" prin sistemul de recrutare Canadian. Pentru inginerii care deja lucreaza in meseria lor, Melissa va examina impactul pe care il au diferentele culturale asupra inginerilor in relatiile lor profesionale, oferind de asemena sugestii pentru o comunicare mai efectiva cu partea Canadiana. Melissa a mai fost invitata in 2009, si datorita faptului ca prezentarea ei a fost foarte interesanta cat si a cererilor din partea participantilor pentru o prezentarea mai detaliata, am reinvitat-o in mijlocul nostru pentru o noua prezentare.

This presentation examines the challenges that immigrants face when they try to find employment in Canada. It looks at the impact of cultural differences on recruiting and the misunderstandings that can lead immigrants to be unsuccessful in their job search for reasons unrelated to their ability to perform the job in question. As a former Recruiter and HR professional, the presenter knows first-hand where immigrants ‘go wrong' at the resume and interview stage of the Canadian recruitment process. Practical suggestions are offered to foreign professionals that will undoubtedly increase their chances of being successful in the Canadian recruitment process.

PENTRU SUPORTERII AREC SI MEMBRII AREC:

1. AREC a fost contactata de organizatia guvernamentala Communications Technology Council (ICTC) in vederea organizarii unei intalniri intre ICTC si inginerii romani de IT, recent sositi in Canada.

ICTC doreste sa dezvolte niste metode de verificare a cunostintelor / experientei inginerilor IT aflati in tarile lor, dar care doresc sa emigreze, atat pe linie profesionala precum si pe linia cunostintelor de limba. Seminariile, care se vor desfasura si in Romania, vor incerca sa-i ajute pe cei ce doresc sa emigreze prin a le furniza informatii referitore la conditiile de lucru din Canada, cum e organizata piata muncii aici, care sunt resursele de informare, ce suport pot sa primeasca de la organizatiile si Guvernele provinciale, etc.

Pentru dezvoltarea acestor seminarii ICTC doreste intai o consultare cu inginerii romani de IT, vorbitori de limba Franceza, noi veniti in Canada, indiferent daca ei lucreaza sau nu. Intalnirea, care va dura cam 2 ore, se poate organiza intr-o seara in cursul saptamanii, sau intr-un weekend (mai multe date se vor comunica ulterior)

Cei interesati sunt rugati se ne raspunda pana Vinerea viitoare, 12 Februarie, indicand numarul de participanti si ce zi preferati pentru intalnire (seara in timpul saptamanii sau in weekend - ce ore?). Va multumim.

"The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) will be announcing a number of tools for assessing the skills and language abilities of Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs). We are developing on-line workshop modules for professionals trained abroad who are overseas and their stakeholders in immigration. These workshops will later be complemented by language assessments according to their job profile.

We offer this service because we believe, like you, we believe in the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Unfortunately, many professionals come to Canada disappointed because their training and skills are not recognized. Without the integration of groups currently underrepresented in the ICT sector including professionals trained abroad, many IEPs feel alienated and excluded.

To ensure that our workshops and assessment tools are transparent, we will be beginning a process of consultations and we are hoping to include you as a partner. These tests and workshops aim to assess the technical and language skills of professionals who have an interest in immigrating to Canada. As you know, we will be overseas first in Paris, France and later in Bucharest, Romania. We are now in a stage of seeking out.

Unfortunately, our timelines are short and we are in need of partners here in Canada so that initial consultations can take place this Spring. For the eventual consultations to be a success, we need a partner organization who can assist us in recruiting French speaking (and later English speaking as well) ICT professionals as participants in the testing (they need to have a good mastery of the French language)

At this coming Election night, we will be nominating the following members to our executives team.

Howard Huang - Chair 2010

Howard has been actively involved with SME Toronto Chapter 26 since 2005. His role in the chapter includes secretary, treasurer and vice chair. Howard adores the chapter's visions. He frequently involves in promoting local and global manufacturing skills and knowledge. Training in industrial engineering, he is interested in design and process improvement in healthcare, supply chain, software development, automotive and electronics manufacturing. Howard currently works for Aastra Technologies Ltd., a global leader in enterprise communication equipment.

Howard devotes his spare time to support many local special technology groups, plant tours and technology and leadership seminars. He enjoyed being associated with SME Toronto chapter because it provides opportunity for him to learn new skills and knowledge, to develop professional networks and to give back to the community. As always, Howard encourages all members to be actively involved in local chapter activities in the areas of plant tours, seminars, conferences and technology trade shows.

Mike Bahreini, P.Eng, CMfgE, M.Eng., LBC, - Chair Elect 2010

Mike joined SME in 1993 as a student member while completing his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at Ryerson University.
After working for Tesma and Decoma (both divisions of Magna International), and later Bertrand Faure (Faurecia), he joined the engineering team at Chrysler-Etobicoke Casting in 1999. While employed at Chrysler, Mike received the Certified Manufacturing Engineer designation (2002) from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Presently, he is employed as a Tool and Process Engineer at the Chrysler-Brampton Assembly Plant.
Mike is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and holds a Master of Engineering degree in Design and Manufacturing from McMaster University. He joined the executive team of SME Toronto chapter 26 as vice chair of Training and Education in 2008. Mike has been serving as Treasurer and Chair of Training and Education since June 2009 and will continue serving the chapter as Chair of Training and Education in 2010.
He is a manufacturing enthusiast with a strong belief in continuous learning and education. Mike is also "Lean Bronze Certified" through SME, AME and Shingo Prize and has participated in Lean Bronze Review course as facilitator.

Sorin Cozma - Treasurer 2010

Sorin is an established profesional in manufacturing; he worked for reputable companies like Coca-Cola HBC, Renin Corp, Graham Packaging. During his positions in production management Sorin has implemented new technologies, promoted continuous improvement and people development.

He is an active fan and promoter of Lean Manufacturing and Health and Safety policies. He is a member of the SME for the past 2 years and has greatly enjoyed the activities of the Toronto Chapter.

Melissa Magder, M.A., Cross-Cultural Training Consultant la MCB Solutions (www.mcbsol.com) va vorbi despre Impactul Diferentelor Culturale asupra Inginerilor. Prezentatoarea va examina obstacolele intalnite de inginerii proveniti din diferite tari atunci cand isi cauta de lucru in Canada. Melissa va da sfaturi despre cum sa "navighezi" prin sistemul de recrutare Canadian. Pentru inginerii care deja lucreaza in meseria lor, Melissa va examina impactul pe care il au diferentele culturale asupra inginerilor in relatiile lor profesionale, oferind de asemena sugestii pentru o comunicare mai efectiva cu partea Canadiana.
 
Partea II
Steven Cardwell, Presedintele lui Engineering Search Firm (www.engineeringsearchfirm.com) o sa vorbeasca despre piata serviciilor "ascunse" din Canada si USA, precum si despre cum trebuiesc atacate aceste pozitii "ascunse" cu ajutorul firmelor de recrutare specializate pentru ingineri. Steven va vorbi si despre succesele firmei lui in plasarea inginerilor pe piata USA.

Dragi prieteni,

Avem placerea de a va invita Miercuri 3 Iunie, la intalnirea cu Dr. Ing. Mircea Mihaescu, din cadrul intalnirilor AREC cu VIP Romani.

Mircea are peste 20 de ani de experienta in software engineering, in dezvoltarea si implementarea proiectelor de software de scara larga. Mircea este Directorul departamentului WebAhead Development and Security Innovations in IBM's CIO Head Office in New York, USA. Departamentul lui Mircea este responsabil cu previziunea modului in care software-ul & hardware-ul vor fi folosite in viitor, ce aplicatii vor fi necesare, cum vor inter-reactiona ele, etc. - o activitate foarte "futuristica" si interesanta.

Inainte de a ajunge Director la WebAhead Development and Security Innovations, Mircea a fost Director al departamentului Software Development la IBM Tivoli, dezvoltand produse care se ocupau cu automatizarea centrelor de date. Mircea a ocupat mai multe pozitii de conducere in IT, consulting si software development, avand o cariera de succes in companii de dezvoltare de software, incepand cu start-ups si continuand cu dezvoltarea firmelor pana la maturizarea lor, realizand o crestere exceptionala a firmelor in care a lucrat.

In unul din mesajele postate pe blog-ul lui, Mircea spune:

A career relationship is with someone that you will continue to keep in touch as you move from job to job -- a mentor, a technical guru, etc. A task relationship is with someone you work together on a project -- you may bump into each other ten years later and chat, but the relationship is essentially short-lived. Mircea va face si o scurta prezentare a carierei sale profesionale, urmata de sfaturi/recomandari pentru cei interesati.
