AREC was represented by Daniel Cheoreanu, Vice-president AREC at the Learning Exchange for Immigrant Professional Networks event organized by TRIEC.

The following message is a follow up:

"To participants of the Learning Exchange for Immigrant Professional Networks:

Thank you for attending the TRIEC Learning Exchange on February 20.

It was great to bring together so many people with similar needs and goals in the same room. From your evaluation feedback, we're pleased to report that many of you picked up new ideas and strategies that will help you to serve your members.

Where do we go from here:

You told us you would like to see:
A 'Network of Networks' - by connecting professional immigrant networks, we can create a larger network to leverage the experiences of different associations.
Future sessions/workshops - there was consensus that further sessions would be helpful to fully explore some of the discussion topics. TRIEC will be in touch soon with ideas on how we can pursue the topics that you expressed the most interest in.
Ongoing on-line communication -TRIEC will manage and contribute to a LinkedIn group, so that professional immigrant networks can share ideas, while learning about upcoming events and news.

The LinkedIn group is intended to be a space where you can share your ideas and practices with other networks or discuss ways to collaborate on future activities.

If you don't already have a LinkedIn profile, it's easy to join and set up your profile. Go to the link above and follow the prompts to register. This is an online tool that allows you to build your professional network.

2. Discussion groups:

We've started discussion groups to help continue the conversations from the afternoon sessions. Please feel free to start any other discussions

Discussion suggestions:
Share information about a program or activity that your group runs successfully
Share your ideas for a new activity or program. There may be others out there who have already done something that you're interested in. Don't reinvent the wheel!
Ideas for collaboration with other networks

3. News/Events:

Items that you can post in the News section include:
events that your association is having
programs or services available in the community
news and information relevant to immigrant professionals

4. Coming soon:

Links to picture gallery and video clips from the learning exchange. We'll be sifting through the footage over the next few weeks to find the best pictures and clips to post.
