AREC-Admission guide to PEO - 2013-02-09

Dear Engineering Brothers,

I have been offering for many years a brief seminar to foreign educated engineers on how to obtain the PEng licence. Seneca College of Toronto is one of the venues where this seminar was attended by many newcomer engineers, who following the seminar applied to PEO and obtained the licence.

Obtaining the PEng licence is more actual than ever for any engineer because according to Ontario Bill 68 starting on Jan 2013 " is is illegal to practice engineering without a licence." Therefore, even if performing as engineers, many non-licenced engineers will be paid at a technician level.

The nest seminar is scheduled on Saturday 2013 Feb 9 at Markham Campus. The College is charging a fee of $28 per participant, but I am sure that for a larger participant group from your association the College you can negotiate a deep discount.

See more at https://www2.senecacollege.ca/ce/classes/PFP910.html
This workshop presents the sequence of steps required for the P. Eng. licence, and also explains reasoning behind the steps. There are misinterpretations about the PEO admission process circulating among newcomers. This workshop will make the process clear. The applicant will be better prepared and the process should become easier after this workshop.

Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Understand Canadian law and the engineering profession
2. Be familiar with education, professions and trades
3. Understand public protection and professional licence
4. Understand professional non- regulatory associations
5. Understand Professional Engineers Ontario
6. Be familiar with the PEO admission process and other related issues.

Please let us know if your ethnic organization is interested and would like to partner with Seneca College for the benefit of your members. The seminar date, location, content and fee are negotiable to suit your membership. Contact Ms Norma Columbus at the above email address or 416.491.5050 ext. 22515 or myself to this email address.

A Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to you and your families,

Prof. Stelian George-Cosh, MASc, PEng
